The Taskforce Part-Time Plus invites researchers and professionals with academic and/or practical knowledge and expertise in the field of increasing female labour participation to submit an abstract before June 15th, 2009 in amsterdam. This international conference will encourage the sharing of new approaches and instruments towards increasing female labour participation in research and practice.

In this workshop we aim to take stock of the current state of knowledge and to advance the emergence of an interdisciplinary approach in this dynamic area by bringing together established and junior researchers working on different aspects of care. A European perspective will synergise theoretical and empirical knowledge on care, as it is differentially constituted and conceptualized in different national contexts of welfare policies, migration experiences, and class, racialised and gender relations.

In the wake of the 2007 International PROMETEA conference, the participants expressed the desire to reflect on the question of the scientific and technological careers of women and to pursue the dialogue between Human and Social Sciences on the one hand, and the preoccupations and reality of corporate life on the other hand.

The special issue of the international journal Gender & Development will focus on Ageing, and the relationship of elderly people to younger generations. The issue will look at these issues from a gender and development perspective, starting by recognising the positive economic and social contributions made by older women and men to their families, communities, and wider society. It will feature real-life case studies showing the current challenges facing older women - and men - in particular contexts, for example as caregivers for grandchildren, and consider whether the responses of development policy-makers are adequate.

In recent years, work done in mainstream bioethics has been challenged by the emerging field of disability studies.
A growing number of disability theorists and activists point out that the views about disability and disabled people that mainstream bioethicists have articulated on matters such as prenatal testing, stem cell research, and physician-assisted suicide incorporate significant misunderstandings about them and amount to an institutionalized form of their oppression...

Papers might address such questions as:
· How does gender shape the way human beings have inhabited or manipulated the environment?
· In what ways have discourses and practices of gender shaped material culture, consumption, and the consumer revolution?
· By what mechanisms, practices, and politics has the material been gendered?
· What are the social and political implications of the gendering of the material - from the gendering of the body to the gendering of consumer goods and lived space?
· How does gender intersect materially with other dimensions of human experience and identity such as race, religion, or nationality?
· How does the material make gender visible? How does the visual make gender material?
· How might theoretical work in allied disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, art history, or philosophy help us to understand gender and the material historically?
· Are there specific critiques of histories of materiality that a gender perspective might fruitfully raise? What new insights does a focus on the material generate about the mechanisms and operations of gender in history?

This conference aims to explore present and past narratives of sexuality, the links between heterogeneous temporalities and dissident sex/ualities and to ask what is at stake in the recent turn to time in gender studies and queer theory.

This conference invites papers from a range of disciplines, reflecting the scope of contemporary feminist interest in spatial configurations. Whilst the theoretical scope of the conference is broad, the central issue of "how British women writers represent space" will remain the focus of the day, considering questions such as, how do women writers construct literary space? What types of spaces/places are represented in works by women? How are received notions of space/place interpreted, accepted, or contested? How do we theorise the textual spaces in women's writing?
