    In December 2010, the Kolleg-Forschergruppe, directed by Prof. Dr. Tanja A. Börzel and Prof. Dr. Thomas Risse, organizes an international conference on "The Diffusion of Regional Integration". The conference will have three major themes around which the panels will be organized:

    1.     Comparing Regional Integration: Divergence or Convergence
    2.     Exporting Regional Integration: The European Union as Promoter of Regional Integration
    3.     Importing Regional Integration: Adoption, Translation, Resistance

    For this academic conference, we invite papers from various disciplinary perspectives to each of these themes. Papers should explicitly address the diffusion of regional integration as outcome or process.

The aim of this mid-term conference will be to establish the evolutions of the links between members of political communities, the territories of authority, the evolving forms of democracy, and the ways in which the political is embedded in social, economic, and cultural contexts.

    To encourage participation by a broad range of early career researchers and experience academics, there is no registration fee.
