The 12th European Wireless Conference will take place in the city of Lucca, Italy, and will be hosted by the IMT Institute for Advanced Studies (www.imtlucca.it). Main theme will be "Towards the Future Internet" and areas of papres are: transmission ´techniques and signal processing, radio channel and RF subsystems, wireless networking, advanced wireless technology. The International Liaison Committee of the Japan Sociological Society (JSS) has established a travel-grant program to promote internationalization of its activities. It is aimed to help non-Japanese young scholars from abroad to participate in the JSS annual meeting in Japan. The program can provide a great opportunity for them to present their research findings and to exchange ideas with sociologists in Japan. The 82nd annual meeting of the JSS will be held at Rikkyo University in Tokyo, Japan. A travel grant will be up to fifty thousand yen each, and the number of awards will be up to six. Limited financial assistance for accommodation and travels expense between the airport and the hotel in Japan will also be provided.

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is "a leading institute for research in molecular life sciences" and the annual EMBL International PhD symposium in Heidelberg is an outstanding event in the scientific world. For this event, every autumn over the past 10 years, EMBL gathers young researchers from numerous scientific institutes, mostly graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Previous symposia covered many interesting topics, including decision making in biology, neurobiology and patterns in biology.

The 2009 Summer School on Religion, Culture and Society in Europe (1750-) offers its students a closer and refreshing look at the complicated historical relationship between religion and modernity. Participants will get a solid introduction to the very different domains in which religion has influenced, (re)shaped and even embodied the modernisation process, but also to the continuous adaptation and transformation processes of the religious domain itself, thus finding a clear contemporary reflection in Europe's cultural identities.

The conference Applied Statistics 2009 is organized by Statistical Society of Slovenia and University of Ljubljana in cooperation with Statistical Office of RS. AS2009 is sponsored by the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS).
