The ECPR currently welcomes proposals to particpate in workshops at the 2010 Joint Sessions. The main aim of the workshops is the participation and equality of endeavour between advanced students, younger and newer members of the profession and well-established professors. Národní vzdělávací fond oznámil vyhlášení malých grantů na výměnu expertů a podporu krátkodobých studijních cest v roce 2010. Jedná se o poslední možnost z blokového grantu Fond pro podporu výzkumu.

Francouzské velvyslanectví v České republice pořádá každoročně celostátní soutěže k ocenění neplepších českých doktorandů v chemických a farmaceutických vědách a nejlepších pregraduálních českých studentů lékařských fakult.

Soutěže jsou organizovány s podporou společnosti Rhodia CR (Cena za chemii), Sanofi-Aventis (Cena za farmacii) a Pierre Fabre Médicament (Cena za lékařství).

Ceny udělované vítězům soutěží obsahují finanční částky od 10.000,- do 70.000,-Kč a první dvě místa v každé kategorii stipendium francouzské vlády na 2 a 1měsíční stáž ve Francii.

Společnost Siemens a Fórum průmyslu a VŠ vyhlašuje 12. ročník soutěže o nejlepší diplomové, doktorské a výzkumné práce „Cena Siemens – Werner von Siemens Excellence Award 2009“.

Soutež probíhá pod záštitou Ministerstva školství, mládeže a tělovýchovy.

Cena je spojena s finanční odměnou a uděluje se v kategoriích:

• 3x diplomová práce, odměna 15 000 Kč
• 3x doktorská práce, odměna 20 000 Kč
• diplomová či doktorská práce zpracovávaná ve společnosti Siemens, odměna 15 000 resp. 20 000 Kč

Každým rokem uděluje společnost Danone Institut ČR granty, stipendia a finanční ocenění vědcům a vědkyním v oblasti nutričních věd. Letošní uzávěrka pro žádosti o grant je 21.9.2009. Uzávěrka pro Cenu mladého vědce/vědkyně trvá do 31.9.2009.

The conference has two tracks: Panels: This track holds panels on selected themes. Three papers will be presented in each panel, and participants will not be required to submit a paper in advance; Research workshop: This track holds thematic one-day or two-day research workshops. Participation in most workshops will be restricted to paper presenters (preferably doctoral students) and discussants (senior faculty members). Students of political phenomena who work in related fields are also welcomed to present their work in the conference (e.g. Political and Law, Political History, Political Economy, Political geography, political philosophy, political psychology, and political communication).

This conference aims at bringing together different viewpoints of “Europe” lying beyond the political narratives of accession and integration. Priority will be given to papers that address the complexities of the way in which “Europe” as a concept, a label, a place, an institution or a union is turned into a locus of contestation. We are particularly interested in comparative studies as well as in exploring transfers of knowledge and power across the region(s) described as “Europe”. The organizing committee welcomes applications from graduate students but will gladly consider abstracts from post-doctoral researchers and early stage academics too.

The “ESF-JSPS Frontier Science Conference for Young Researchers 2010” will provide early career researchers from Europe and Japan with opportunities to explore jointly an emerging field of research.Topics will include: 1. Empires and their peripheries: interactions, interdependences and transformations; 2. Environment and food supply; 3. Ethnic identities, language, population movements and social mobility; 4. Networks of interaction, production and exchange; 5. Ritual, symbolism and cosmology; 6. Empires and their contested peripheries in long-term and global perspectives.

In order to increase and reinforce its capacity, and in order to encourage researcher to enhance their experience in an international, multicultural and multidisciplinary environment, the Institute for Environment and Sustainability is launching a call for interest for Grantholders for Doctoral, Post-doctoral and Senior Research Positions. The grants are aimed at developing training and mobility opportunities for researchers throughout their careers.

The Research Committee on Sociology of Youth RC34 of the International Sociological Association (ISA) announces the second worldwide competition for junior scholar(s) engaged in youth research. The winner(s) will be invited to participate in the XVII World Congress of Sociology. The winner’s paper will be considered for presentation at RC34 presidential session and for publication, subject to editorial decision and revision, in a publication of the RC34. RC34 prefers papers focusing on socially relevant youth issues. The phenomena examined may be social, economic, political, cultural or of any other kind, but their interpretation or analysis must show a scientific orientation. Empirical based research papers must go beyond descriptive reporting of results to broader, analytical interpretations.
