University of Salford invites abstracts from both advanced research postgraduate students and established researchers for their multidisciplinary conference on 'The Governance of Asylum and Migration in the European Union', to be held at the University of Salford (Greater Manchester) on 26-27 January 2012. The conference aims to assess the evolution of asylum and migration policies in the European Union in a multilevel governance perspective. It considers both the EU and the national levels and the interactions between these levels in a multidisciplinary perspective and with the input of practitioners.

The goal of this program is to give scholars in the social sciences access to high-quality, advanced training in qualitative and quantitative social science methods. The program is intended for promising upper-level scholars in political science, international relations, and related disciplines. Preference will be given to current faculty members, post-doctoral and doctoral students. Exceptional masters-level students in political science, international relations, and closely related fields will also be considered.

The 9th Biennial Conference of European Communities Studies Association – Canada (ECSA-C) will explore how the EU and its member states will deal with these challenges at a time when financial resources are scarce. There will be three best paper awards, which, subject to ECSA-C board approval, will carry cash prizes of $500. The proposed awards are for: Best conference paper; Best paper on EU governance; Best student paper.

The Havighurst Center for Russian & Post-Soviet Studies, Miami University invites for 11th Annual International Young Researchers Conference: “Postcommunist Corruption: Causes, Manifestations, Consequences”. After more than two decades of research on post-communist transformations, a consensus has emerged that corruption is a major phenomenon associated with the evolution of the former “second world.” The purpose of this conference is to explore the analytical, conceptual and comparative dimensions of this phenomenon and to examine recent empirical findings and field work on corruption in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.

Doctoral School of Economics - Iasi announces the Call for Papers for the sixth annual edition of the Doctoral School of Economics International Conference Institutions and economic performance which will be held at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, in Iasi, Romania. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings with ISBN number. A selection of papers will be published in a special issue of the Review of Economic and Business Studies.

The Dan David Prize laureates annually donate twenty scholarships of US$15,000 each to outstanding doctoral and postdoctoral students of exceptional promise in the chosen fields for the current year. Ten scholarships are awarded to doctoral and post-doctoral students at universities throughout the world and ten scholarships at Tel Aviv University.

Applications submitted by IAP Member Academies or Observers will be considered on any relevant topic, but for 2012 the IAP Executive Committee especially encourages applications on science communication and women in science issues.
