The Wilson Center awards fellowships annually to PhD holders with outstanding project proposals in a broad range of the social sciences and humanities on national and/or international issues. Topics and scholarship should relate to key public policy challenges or provide the historical and/or cultural framework to illuminate policy issues of contemporary importance.

Requirements:
- outstanding capabilities and experience from a wide variety of -backgrounds (including government, the corporate world, professions, and academia)
- Ph.D. must be received by the application deadline
- publications beyond their doctoral dissertations
- Practitioners or policymakers with an equivalent level of professional achievement

The Zentrum für Zeithistorische Forschung (ZZF) in Potsdam, Germany, offers Young Eastern European Fellowship for the academic year 2010/2011 to study German and European History in the 20th century. This six-month fellowship will provide young scholars from East Central Europe and the former Soviet Union with an opportunity to pursue individual research while participating in the academic life of one of ’s major historical research centres. The ZZF covers a broad scope of Contemporary European History with five research departments: Communism and Society; Economic and Social Changes in the 20th Century; Changing Concepts of the Political; Regimes of the Social Sphere. Urban Society, Welfare State and Rationalization in the 20th Century; Contemporary History of the Media and Information Society.

Applicants must have at least postdoctoral status with a significant academic record. They are expected to pursue their own research.

The research group headed by Prof. David Basin at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (ETH Zurich) has two open positions for PhD students in formal development and testing of secure software. The PhD student employed will be given the opportunity to carry out a PhD in Computer Science at ETH Zurich.

* Master’s or equivalent degree (e.g. Diplom).
* designed for enthusiastic students with a strong background in formal methods or mathematical logic;
* with an interest in applying their knowledge to formal development and testing of secure software;

The Templeton Dissertation Fellows in Evil in Early Modern Philosophy of Religion and Theology Program will provide at least two one-year awards with the possibility of a second year renewal in 2011 and up to two one-year awards in 2012. Fellows will spend their time in residence at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN, interacting with leading scholars in early modern philosophy of religion and theology, and the philosophy of religion, for the purpose of undertaking cutting-edge doctoral research on their topic.

Applicants must have a Ph.D., and be affiliated with an accredited college or university. Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong promise of or an established record of successful publication.

The Centre for the Study of Political Change of the University of Siena offers PhD Programme "Political Science: Comparative and European Politics". The programme aims to provide advanced training in both the theory and methodology of political science, with a special emphasis on comparative politics, international relations and European studies. They appeal both to students who want to pursue an academic career in "border areas" between comparative and European politics and international relations, and to those considering high-level occupations in the public service at the regional, national, or supranational levels, as well as in journalism, international banking, and commerce.

The Department of Political Science, Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna, offers a three-year postgraduate program aiming to explore the logic of political contestation in this setting of increasingly interwoven levels of governance.

Heinrich Böll Foundation offers in accordance with the guidelines of the German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) as well as the Foreign Office (AA) scholarships awarded by the Scholarship Department to German and foreign students. The University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’ offers twenty three-year full-time postgraduate PhD positions with fellowship for attaining PhD degree in the Doctoral schools of archeology, architectural sciences, civil engineering and architecture and in Doctoral School "Vito Volterra" in astronomical, chemical, earth, mathematical and physical
sciences. Each fellowship amounts to € 19.800,00 per year; this amount includes national insurance contributions (INPS) that fellowship recipients are required to pay (8,91% for 2010). The fellowship doesn’t cover the annual entrance fee.

Kenyon College is seeking applications for the Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Kenyon College. The post-doctoral program creates a one-year teaching fellowship in the humanities or humanistic social sciences for holders of PhD's who come from under-represented and disadvantaged backgrounds (e.g. ethnic minorities; women in fields that are occupied predominantly by men, or men in fields that are occupied predominantly by women; and persons who are first-generation college graduates within their families).

Institut Cultural Roman (ICR) offers 5 grants for foreign researchers. The programme is dedicated to academic improvement, aiming undergraduate and graduate students (MA and PhD) who prepare their final papers (dissertations, theses). The selection is performed by an independent committee of professionals, based on an application file that must contain, among other papers, a reference letter from the supervisor of the BA or MA dissertation or doctoral thesis.

The documentation and research period have to be ended until December 31st, 2010.Length of the grant is 3 months.
