    The Wilson Center awards fellowships annually to PhD holders with outstanding project proposals in a broad range of the social sciences and humanities on national and/or international issues. Topics and scholarship should relate to key public policy challenges or provide the historical and/or cultural framework to illuminate policy issues of contemporary importance.

    The Zentrum für Zeithistorische Forschung (ZZF) in Potsdam, Germany, offers Young Eastern European Fellowship for the academic year 2010/2011 to study German and European History in the 20th century. This six-month fellowship will provide young scholars from East Central Europe and the former Soviet Union with an opportunity to pursue individual research while participating in the academic life of one of ’s major historical research centres. The ZZF covers a broad scope of Contemporary European History with five research departments: Communism and Society; Economic and Social Changes in the 20th Century; Changing Concepts of the Political; Regimes of the Social Sphere. Urban Society, Welfare State and Rationalization in the 20th Century; Contemporary History of the Media and Information Society.

    Applicants must have at least postdoctoral status with a significant academic record. They are expected to pursue their own research.

    The research group headed by Prof. David Basin at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (ETH Zurich) has two open positions for PhD students in formal development and testing of secure software. The PhD student employed will be given the opportunity to carry out a PhD in Computer Science at ETH Zurich.
    Eligibility
    * Master’s or equivalent degree (e.g. Diplom).
    * designed for enthusiastic students with a strong background in formal methods or mathematical logic;
    * with an interest in applying their knowledge to formal development and testing of secure software;
    * experience in the following specialized areas: formal software development by refinement, automated test case generation techniques would be an asset.

    The Templeton Dissertation Fellows in Evil in Early Modern Philosophy of Religion and Theology Program will provide at least two one-year awards with the possibility of a second year renewal in 2011 and up to two one-year awards in 2012. Fellows will spend their time in residence at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN, interacting with leading scholars in early modern philosophy of religion and theology, and the philosophy of religion, for the purpose of undertaking cutting-edge doctoral research on their topic.

    Applicants must have a Ph.D., and be affiliated with an accredited college or university. Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong promise of or an established record of successful publication.

    The University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’ offers twenty three-year full-time postgraduate PhD positions with fellowship for attaining PhD degree in the Doctoral schools of archeology, architectural sciences, civil engineering and architecture and in Doctoral School "Vito Volterra" in astronomical, chemical, earth, mathematical and physical
    sciences. Each fellowship amounts to € 19.800,00 per year; this amount includes national insurance contributions (INPS) that fellowship recipients are required to pay (8,91% for 2010). The fellowship doesn’t cover the annual entrance fee.

    Institut Cultural Roman (ICR) offers 5 grants for foreign researchers. The programme is dedicated to academic improvement, aiming undergraduate and graduate students (MA and PhD) who prepare their final papers (dissertations, theses). The selection is performed by an independent committee of professionals, based on an application file that must contain, among other papers, a reference letter from the supervisor of the BA or MA dissertation or doctoral thesis.

    The documentation and research period have to be ended until December 31st, 2010.Length of the grant is 3 months.
