    The grant »Fraunhofer Attract« offers outstanding external scientists the opportunity to develop their ideas towards an actual application within an optimally equipped Fraunhofer institute operating close to the market. The scientist will be offered a budget of 2.5 Million Euro over 5 years to lead a group of 3-5 co-workers.

    IIASA’s annual 3-month Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP) offers research opportunities to talented young researchers whose interests correspond with IIASA’s ongoing research on issues of global environmental, economic and social change. From June through August accepted participants work within the Institute’s Research Programs under the guidance of IIASA scientific staff. The YSSP provides a unique opportunity for participants to advance their research under the direct supervision of an experienced IIASA scientist, and at the same time contribute to IIASA’s ongoing scientific agenda; broaden their research interests by working in IIASA’s interdisciplinary and international research environment; build contacts with IIASA’s worldwide network of collaborators and with other YSSP fellows.

    Emmy Noether Programme - Germany

    The Emmy Noether Programme supports young researchers in achieving independence at an early stage of their scientific careers. Young postdocs gain the qualifications required for a university teaching career during a DFG-funded period, usually lasting five years, in which they lead their own independent junior research group.

    As a rule, researchers who have acquired between two and four years of postdoctoral research experience are eligible to apply. Applicants must have international research experience.

    International Projects for Scientific Cooperation - PICS

    A PICS is a research project involving two teams, one in a CNRS-affiliated laboratory and the other abroad. It is awarded for a 3-year non-renewable period, and aims at consolidating an ongoing collaboration that has already produced joint publications with a partner abroad. Funding received in the framework of a PICS is intended to cover research travel as well as the organization of seminars and meetings.

    Under a partnership between Inserm and CNRS, a call for proposal is launched to:
    - Enable young scientists to create and lead a team within an already existing structure. The ATIP - AVENIR teams will strengthen the research of the host units but will develop independently their own scientific project. Successful applicants will have to develop their projects within a structure in which they never worked before ;
    - Promote mobility and attract young team leaders of high-level working abroad.

    The Finnish Government offers scholarships of 3-9 months for Doctoral level studies, research and teaching at a higher education institution in Finland. The Finnish Government Scholarship Pool programme is open to young researchers from all academic fields. The scholarships can not be applied for post-Doctoral studies or research.
