The Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne offers 8 scholarships for prospective doctoral students in social and economic sciences (sociology, political science, law, social policy, economics, social and economic psychology and statistics). Selected students will be funded for 3 years.

The JM-CETRO summer school aims at bringing together advanced doctoral students in economics, law and social sciences who are in the final phase of their PhD or have completed most recently. The summer school intends to be a platform for young researchers to start forming international research networks and initiate common, international and interdisciplinary research or publication projects. The organizers welcome papers providing answers to the ‘how’ and ‘why’ questions related to domestic employment policy reforms. They particularly encourage contributions using concepts of Europeanization and institutional change as a framework to explain reforms on the national, regional and local level, particularly in comparative perspective. All papers will be published in the JM-CETRO working paper series.

The objective of Summer School organized by the Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) is to offer different short courses on significant topics in international relations and international political economy, taught by experts of international prestige. The direction and coordination of the summer school will be provided by Carles Boix, visiting professor at the IBEI. The summer school is aimed at graduate students, professors and researchers in the areas of political science, economics, and international relations and international studies who are interested in learning first-hand about the latest advances in research.

The school intends to provide an intensive training course for Ph.D. students and young researchers who are working in the fields of international economics and development. This year it will focus on the main analytical and empirical approaches to the link between international trade and international migration.
The school is open to 40 students from all countries. Students are expected to attend the school full time. The lecturers are Giovanni Peri of the University of California, Davis and James E. Rauch of the University of California, San Diego, two of the leading experts working in this field.

 The ECPR Summer School in Methods and Techniques provides ECTS accredited up to date training in specially selected methods in the whole spectrum of approaches used in the social sciences. In particular, it emphasises those methods which are particularly salient for research questions in political science broadly defined. It deals with all stages of a project, it caters to the needs of research set at the macro and at the micro level, and it covers quantitative and qualitative designs.

Historicity and Discourses of Modernity and Identity, 1900-1945, in
East-Central, Southeastern and Northern Europe.
CAS will award five research fellowships to scholars working
in the area of the social sciences and humanities for a period of 9 months (1 October 2009 - 30 June 2010).
The programme envisages individua research and participation in two working sessions and one extended colloquium.
Non-Bulgarian Fellows can spend in-residence research periods of varying length in Sofia (negotiable in each individual case).
Eligibility:
1) Scholars working in the social sciences and/or the humanities from any country,
holders of a doctoral degree or at the final stage of fulfillin the requirements for such a degree
2) Applicants may not be older than 45 years of age at the start of the fellowship period

The Summer Research Laboratory (SRL) on Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia is open to all REEE ( Russian, East European, and Eurasian). The SRL provides scholars: access to the resources of the University of Illinois Slavic and East European Library, an opportunity to seek advice from the librarians of the Slavic Reference Service (SRS), and specialized workshops for graduate students and junior scholars.During the first four weeks of the Lab, the Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center also organizes conferences, evening films, noontime speakers, and social events for Lab associates. For graduate students, it provides an opportunity to conduct research prior to going abroad for dissertation research or as they are working on their dissertation.

Nadace Robert Bosch Stiftung a Německá centrála pro občanské vzdělávání – Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung, vypisují 2.ročník hospitačního programu „Rozvoj občanské společnosti v akci – Politische Bildung in Aktion“. Program nabízí možnost získání krátkodobého stipendia v německé neziskové organizaci či jiné instituci. Stipendium je určeno pro mladé profesionály/ky ze zemí střední a východní Evropy, kteří/které pracují v oblasti rozvoje občanské společnosti, například v nevládních organizacích a vzdělávacích institucích. Vybraní/né stipendisti/tky budou mít možnost 8-10 týdenní hospitace v německé neziskové organizaci či další instituci. Stipendium pokryje všechny životní náklady – ubytování a stravu, dopravu, kapesné. Cílem je vzájemná výměna zkušeností a navázání nových kontaktů, včetně vypracování přes-hraničního projektu z oblasti rozvoje občanské společnosti. Součástí je úvodní a závěrečný několikadenní seminář s ostatními stipendisty/kami.

The Northeast Consortium for Hydrologic Synthesis represents a broad cross-section faculty, postdoctoral fellows and students in the hydro-sciences and affiliated water policy and management sectors, dedicated to addressing "The 500-Year Challenge" - to understand the role of humans in shaping the character of hydrologic systems across the Northeast Corridor from year 1600 to 2100. The Summer Institute is open to all levels of graduate and exceptional undergraduate students.

The Center for Contemporary History and Policy at the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Philadelphia seeks proposals for summer fellowships in the Environmental History and Policy Program. While in residence, fellows will conduct research projects contributing to the program's project, "Controlling Chemicals." Outcomes will include the completion of a white paper to be published in the program's series, Studies in Sustainability, as well as the identification and compilation materials to be included in the web-based home for the project. Applications/project proposals are welcomed from researchers at all stages of their careers and from a diversity of fields: STS, sociology, anthropology, history, philosophy, environmental or science policy, science and engineering.
