The Graduate Program 'Formations of the Global' in the School of Humanities at the University of Mannheim, Germany, is offering up to nine doctoral scholarships (beginning September 1^st, 2009; awarded for a maximum of three years).

The Life Science Zurich Graduate School houses several Ph.D. programs that cover distinct areas of the life sciences. Wellcome Trust-Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) offers opportunities for postdoctoral scientists to undertake research at the interfaces between biology/medicine and mathematics, engineering, computer, physical or chemical sciences, firstly at MIT and then at a UK institution. Candidates will be expected to identify an important biomedical research question and to propose a personal interdisciplinary training programme to achieve their research aims. The fellowships are for four years full-time.

The Bonn International Graduate School in Mathematics (BIGS-Mathematics), embraced by the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics, a Cluster of Excellence established within the German government's Excellence Initiative, offers a PhD program in mathematics based upon the well-known teaching and research tradition of the Department of Mathematics and the Max-Planck- Institute for Mathematics.

The Latin American Faculty for the Social Sciences (FLACSO) will be the host of a Summer School that will be held in Mexico City on the campus of FLACSO Mexico. The Summer School constitutes a joint activity of the EULAKS project and will be principally co-ordinated by FLACSO. The central aim of the Summer School is the creation of a face-to-face linkage between young European and Latin American researchers and senior scholars in the social sciences and humanities with a focus on the design and implementation of public science, technology and innovation (STI) policies.
