Centre for Women and Gender Research in collaboration with The Centre for Care Science Research and the Department of Health and Care Sciences at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Tromsø, welcome researchers and students to an international researchers' symposium and a PhD course on issues related to gender and ageing. This topic, lending itself to multidisciplinary approaches, will be examined from psychological, social and cultural perspectives. We invite you to take part in this scholarly event which aims at generating new and increased empirical, theoretical and methodological insights.

The Institute for Gender Studies is pleased to announce an
international conference in celebration of its 25th anniversary.
This interdisciplinary event will bring together a wide range of
scholars and researchers from Europe and North-America.

This conference is a forum for examining if and how questions of equality, growth and sustainability can be reconciled in organisations and implemented in general practice. 15 years after the Beijing Platform for Action this conference will provide academics, policy makers and practitioners with an international and interdisciplinary forum for exchange. The purpose is to explore and disseminate knowledge and experiences on gender equality, gender mainstreaming, diversity management, growth and sustainability, inclusion and equal opportunities. The ambition is to discuss these key concepts and issues from an intersectional perspective, and in theory and practice, in order to rethink and find new ways to move on.

The second 'Equal is not enough' Conference seeks to contribute to the understanding of the causes, consequences and underlying dynamics of inequalities, as well as to the understanding of contemporary policies to combat them. In challenging differences and inequalities in contemporary societies, the conference addresses different grounds of inequality, such as gender, ethnicity, sexual preference, disability, class and age, and also focuses on the comparison and intersection that can be drawn between them. It does so in four different streams, paying particular attention to law, public policies, organisations and the life course as such.

Gender Studies are not only concerned with the study of the relationships between the genders, but also of the social and/or scientific construction of ‘gender’ and of the genderization of knowledge itself. In the comparison of the methodologies used in natural sciences and the humanities, a gendered way of looking at reality becomes obvious. Today, Gender Studies have developed an extremely multi-disciplinary, if not trans-disciplinary character: gender has become a part of the most diverse areas of discussion and has a strong impact on different empistemological categories.

Dieuwertje Dyi Huijg and Susan O’Shea (University of Manchester) inivite to an interdisciplinary PhD seminar on YOUNG FEMINISM with the aim to develop academic thinking on young feminism and to create a network of researchers in the field.

Výzkumné projekty:

• projekt BARIÉRY (SOÚ AV ČR)

Cílem projektu Bariéry (Rovné příležitosti ve vědě a výzkumu: Analýza genderových bariér a rozvoj talentů) bylo prozkoumání překážek, s nimiž se mohou  potýkat studující na vysokých školách a začínající badatelé a badatelky v akademickém prostředí. Projekt byl realizován v rámci třech tématických linií. Za prvé, byl uskutečněn mentoringový program mezi studentkami středních škol a ČVUT. Tento program měl za cíl podpořit zájem středoškolaček o studium technických oborů a přispět ke genderové destereotypizaci technických věd.

Za druhé, byl projekt zaměřen na mapování a identifikaci nerovností na základě pohlaví se specifickým zaměřením na případy sexuálního obtěžování na vysokých školách. Byla vypracována doporučení pro vysoké školy, jak proti sexuálnímu obtěžování postupovat. Třetím tématem projektu byla akademická mobilita.Výzkum se zaměřil především na genderové aspekty, které vyvstávají v souvislosti s nutností vyjednat a sladit nároky profesního a osobního života. Vzhledem k tomu, že se často hovoří o odlivu mozků v souvislosti s mobilitou vědců a vědkyň, byla v rámci výzkumné práce soustředěna také pozornost na vztahy mezi migrací a mobilitou a byla věnována pozornost tématu návratu do českého akademického prostředí.

• Projekt SEXUÁLNÍ OBTĚŽOVÁNÍ VE VYSOKOŠKOLSKÉM PROSTŘEDÍ: VÝSKYT A VNÍMÁNÍ (KGS FHS UK)

Projekt  Sexuální obtěžování ve vysokoškolském prostředí: výskyt a vnímání se zaměřil na zmapování výskytu sexuálního a genderově motivovaného obtěžování na českých vysokých školách. Na základě výsledků výzkumu a zahraničních inspirací byly připraveny dvě publikace, jejichž cílem je seznámit vyučující a studující na českých VŠ s problematikou sexuálního obtěžování a s možnostmi jeho řešení.

The University of Oulu invites applications for one-year study programme suitable for Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral students in various fields. The purpose of the programme is to increase competence in organisations and to provide new insight for interdisciplinary research around the themes of violence and non-violence. The PSA (UK) Women & Politics Group, and conference organizers in Politics at The University of Manchester, invite paper abstracts for the forthcoming conference Shifting Agendas. This conference will showcase gender research from across the discipline of Politics. Colleagues researching women & politics will be all too aware of the need to work across identity boundaries and to incorporate conceptions of intersectionality in their research whether it be in policy, institutions and party politics, international relations, Europe or feminist theory. In addition, this conference offers space to think about the placement and assessment of such research within the discipline.
