ScientificCommons.org aims to provide the most comprehensive and freely available access to scientific knowledge on the internet. The major aim of the project is to develop the world’s largest communication medium for scientific knowledge products which is freely accessible to the public. A key challenge of the project is to support the rapidly growing number of movements and archives who admit the free distribution and access to scientific knowledge. ScientificCommons.org is a project of the University of St.Gallen (Switzerland) and hosted and developed at the Institute for Media and Communications Management.

The Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences of Maastricht University opens five fully funded PhD positions in the field of arts and social sciences. PhD candidates are offered a 3 or 4 year contract. The programme is characterized by its interdisciplinary approach and its international character, focused on three topics:
1. European Administrative Governance;
2. Science, Technology and Society, including Globalization and Development;
3. Cultural Memory and Diversity (see below)

A 'Call for Participation' was launched for Women's Worlds 2011, a global feminist conference being held in Ottawa-Gatineau in July of 2011. The main congress theme is "Inclusions, exclusions, and seclusions: Living in a globalized world". Each of the four days of the congress will be guided by an overarching theme: Breaking Cycles, Breaking Ceilings, Breaking Barriers, and Breaking Ground. Proposals for presentations can come from individuals, groups, coalitions, networks, teams – everything will be considered.

University of Sydney offers a full-time postgraduate scholarship (commencing in Semester 2, 2010) to undertake research leading to a PhD in international conflict. The project will investigate the roles of norms, political culture, values, and/or similar factors in patterns of interstate conflict across different regions of the world. The research will be complementary to, and in close interaction with, an ARC-funded project on the role of political institutions in regional conflict dynamics.

Nuffield College Oxford, in partnership with the John Fell Fund and the Department of Sociology, intends to appoint a John Fell Fund Research Fellow in Experimental Social Sciences, with effect from 1 September 2010. Applications are invited from graduates of any country wishing to undertake experimental research in any area of sociology. Applicants who wish to undertake interdisciplinary research which includes sociology will also be considered.

Eirene 2011 is conceived and developed to assist researchers at all levels – scientists, professors, postdoctoral researchers, and PhD students who are seeking publishing opportunities for their research papers on classical tradition in the Modern Greek Literature or Theatre or Philosophy.

The Turkish Cultural Foundation (TCF) offers fellowships to support scholarship and publications on Turkish culture and art with the goal to increase knowledge on Turkey’s cultural heritage in Turkey and around the world. Length of Fellowship is one year. Fellowships are open to scholars who are engaged in the research phase of doctoral studies and for scholars whose Ph.D. or equivalent professional training has been completed within the past 10 years.

The Transregional Center for Democratic Studies of The New School for Social Research is announcing the 19th Democracy & Diversity Graduate Summer Institute and welcomes a diverse cohort of forty junior scholars from The New School, Europe, and other parts of the world for an intensive program of study in society, culture and politics, this year centered around the theme “Citizens without Borders” (de-territorialization, and new practices that reshape identities and traditional notions of citizenship). The Bucerius Ph.D. scholarship program in migration studies "Settling Into Motion" offers up to eight scholarships for Ph.D. theses addressing migration in changing societies.
For 2010, research applications on "Migration, Diversity and the Future of Modern Societies" are especially welcome. Qualified Ph.D. students of - in a broad sense - social sciences can apply.
