Institute of Economic and Social Research (WSI) at the Hans Böckler Foundation invites to summer school 2010 which is focused on the question whether or not European integration could develop towards a more Social Europe. It will provide an overview on the history, institutions and law-making procedures of the European Union and will discuss current European policy in the fields of social policy, macroeconomics, employment and labour market and industrial relations. Center for the Research of Ethnicity and Culture (CVEK) organizes the summer school of Ethnicity and Migration Studies, two-week educational program covering topics connected with nationalism and ethnicity, de-ethnization of the public sphere, migration and integration analysis, approaches and policies. The Summer School aims to create an alternative learning platform for advanced studies for MA and PhD Students and young researchers from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania, and Lithuania.

Kazakh University of Humanities and Law invites young scientists to summer academy which focus serves to discuss the possibilities and limits of OSCE`s engagement in Central Asia with particular account on regional perceptions of conflicts and security risk.Young scientists will gain the opportunity for an interdisciplinary dialogue in combination with academic research and practical experience. Subject of this is the development of realistic approaches for the regulation of various conflicts that occur within the OSCE fields of interest.

The European Sociological Association’s Research Network on Political Sociology announces its first mid-term conference, to be held at the university of Lille 2 in France. The aim of this mid-term conference will be to establish the evolutions of the links between members of political communities, the territories of authority, the evolving forms of democracy, and the ways in which the political is embedded in social, economic, and cultural contexts.

To encourage participation by a broad range of early career researchers and experience academics, there is no registration fee.

Dieuwertje Dyi Huijg and Susan O’Shea (University of Manchester) inivite to an interdisciplinary PhD seminar on YOUNG FEMINISM with the aim to develop academic thinking on young feminism and to create a network of researchers in the field.

Within the broader framework of the HiiL Law of the Future Conference 2011, the Hague Institute for the Internationalisation of Law invites young scholars and graduate students to enter into the “HiiL Young Talent Essay Competition” by submitting original, scholarly written essays on how they think law will look like in 20-30 years. The conference will be loosely organised around three tracks: 1) Constitutional / institutional / administrative law; 2) Private law / private actors / horizontal relationships; 3) Criminal law / public power and punishment. The essay should attempt to answer the following: “What do you see as the most significant challenges for the development of the law (within one or more of the tracks mentioned above and/or in relation to other tracks)? What developments are we likely to see in the coming two to three decades? What do those developments mean for national legal systems as a whole?”

Výzkumné projekty:

• projekt BARIÉRY (SOÚ AV ČR)

Cílem projektu Bariéry (Rovné příležitosti ve vědě a výzkumu: Analýza genderových bariér a rozvoj talentů) bylo prozkoumání překážek, s nimiž se mohou  potýkat studující na vysokých školách a začínající badatelé a badatelky v akademickém prostředí. Projekt byl realizován v rámci třech tématických linií. Za prvé, byl uskutečněn mentoringový program mezi studentkami středních škol a ČVUT. Tento program měl za cíl podpořit zájem středoškolaček o studium technických oborů a přispět ke genderové destereotypizaci technických věd.

Za druhé, byl projekt zaměřen na mapování a identifikaci nerovností na základě pohlaví se specifickým zaměřením na případy sexuálního obtěžování na vysokých školách. Byla vypracována doporučení pro vysoké školy, jak proti sexuálnímu obtěžování postupovat. Třetím tématem projektu byla akademická mobilita.Výzkum se zaměřil především na genderové aspekty, které vyvstávají v souvislosti s nutností vyjednat a sladit nároky profesního a osobního života. Vzhledem k tomu, že se často hovoří o odlivu mozků v souvislosti s mobilitou vědců a vědkyň, byla v rámci výzkumné práce soustředěna také pozornost na vztahy mezi migrací a mobilitou a byla věnována pozornost tématu návratu do českého akademického prostředí.

• Projekt SEXUÁLNÍ OBTĚŽOVÁNÍ VE VYSOKOŠKOLSKÉM PROSTŘEDÍ: VÝSKYT A VNÍMÁNÍ (KGS FHS UK)

Projekt  Sexuální obtěžování ve vysokoškolském prostředí: výskyt a vnímání se zaměřil na zmapování výskytu sexuálního a genderově motivovaného obtěžování na českých vysokých školách. Na základě výsledků výzkumu a zahraničních inspirací byly připraveny dvě publikace, jejichž cílem je seznámit vyučující a studující na českých VŠ s problematikou sexuálního obtěžování a s možnostmi jeho řešení.

The multi-disciplinary Initial Training Network (ITN) on Inter-institutional Cooperation in the EU (INCOOP) brings together Universities, professional organisations and high-level officials that all share a long-term interest in a better understanding of the functioning of institutions in the European system of multi-level governance. 13  pre-doctoral and 2 post-doctoral positions  are available at the different host institutions (Universities) with the aim of examining different dimensions of inter-level, intra- and inter-institutional cooperation in the EU.
