University of Konstanz in cooperation with the University of Tilburg and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) announce the 10th POLNET International Summer School on the Analysis of Political and Managerial Networks. It will take place at the New Castle of Meersburg at the Lake Constance, Germany.This seminar is a basic introduction to social network analysis. It is intended for MA/PhD students, as well as researchers and practitioners, interested in theoretically driven empirical research on networks in the social sciences. The aim is to introduce to the analysis of networks who are conducting or planning to conduct quantitative studies of networks in the fields of public policy, management and organisational science.

YSF conference is devoted to the main topic “Cultural Changes in Central and South East Europe after 1989”. Target group are young scientists dealing with Central and South East Europe in the fields of cultural studies, history, comparative literature, European ethnology, media studies, political sciences, geography and sociology. Applicants should be up to 35 years. Main objective is presentation of research papers and projects to the public and promotion of exchange among the participants. Further aims are motivation and reinforcement of young scientists engaging in the regions of Central and South East Europe, promotion and creation of networking and promotion of mobility, especially of young scientists from SEE.

The International «Lomonosov» conference is the part of the International Youth scientific forum «Lomonosov-2010». The main aim of the conference is to develop student, postgraduate and young scientist creative activity, to involve them into solving problems of the day in science; to maintain and develop a uniform scientific and educational space, to establish ties between future colleagues. In 2010 the conference will consist of 33 sections and more than 280 subsections which reflect the main fields of modern science. The working languages are Russian and English.

The Universities of Bremen and Göttingen (Dept of Politics) and the University of Oxford (Dept of Politics and International Relations & Institute of European and Comparative Law) invite applications from scholars for a number of two-year postdoctoral Fellowships based mainly at the University of Oxford. The Fellowships are open to people of all nationalities who work in the fields of political science, law, history, sociology or economics. The only restriction is that the Fellows should work on the transformation of the modern state (broadly conceived) with a focus on Western Europe and/or European integration.

The celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Fulbright Program in Austria in 1950 provides an excellent opportunity for a broader discussion of the question: Does academic exchange matter? The aim of this conference is to highlight the ongoing research on the various topics related to academic exchange and its impact and to stimulate further reflection on the state of cultural diplomacy, scholarly internationalism, and the their ultimate impacts on foreign relations.

This prize is awarded in recognition of an outstanding book (or, in even-numbered years, article) on the history of women in science. The book or article may take a biographical, institutional, theoretical, or other approach to the topic, which may include discussions of women¹s activities in science, analyses of past scientific practices that deal explicitly with gender, and investigations regarding women as viewed by scientists.

The Catharine Stimpson Prize is designed to recognize excellence and innovation in the work of emerging feminist scholars and is awarded biannually to the best paper in an international competition. Leading feminist scholars from around the globe will select the winner. The prizewinning paper will be published in Signs, and the author will be provided an honorarium of $1,000. All papers submitted for the Stimpson Prize will be considered for peer review and possible publication in /Signs/. Feminist scholars in the early years of their careers (less than seven years since receipt of the terminal degree) are invited to submit papers for the Stimpson Prize. Papers may be on any topic that falls within the broad rubric of interdisciplinary feminist scholarship.
