In the wake of the 2007 International PROMETEA conference, the participants expressed the desire to reflect on the question of the scientific and technological careers of women and to pursue the dialogue between Human and Social Sciences on the one hand, and the preoccupations and reality of corporate life on the other hand.

The 2009 Prometea conference will attempt to meet this demand:
1- To create opportunities of exchange between researchers in HSS and corporate managers

2- To take stock of the situation of women in these jobs and evaluate the impact of public policies and of new corporate practices on their careers: more flexibility, development of teleworking, blurring of the border line between private life and work, gender-neutral parental leaves, day care services . .

3- To encourage the emergence of new social models better adapted to the reality of contemporary social life. Also to consider new paths for men in order to make all jobs and functions equally accessible to women and men

The conference is organised in 5 sessions (detailed content of each session on www.prometea.info/conference2009 

Session 1 - Statistical identification and methodology

Session 2 - The decisions taken at different life stages

Session 3 - Part-time work and teleworking

Session 4 - The impact and evaluation of public and corporate tax and social policies

Session 5 - Policies at balancing family and work life. Log term cost of these policies

*Submission of papers*
The researchers who intend to present an oral communication (around 10 minutes) are invited to send on line to the Scientific Committee a
5000-sign abstract before April 15th , 2009. This abstract will include, apart from the description of the content of the study, information about the methodology used and some bibliographical references. All researchers concerned will be told before June 30th , 2009* whether their proposal has been selected. Then the full papers will have to be sent to the Scientific Committee before *October 1^st, 2009.

*Submission of posters*
The researchers who wish to present a poster are invited to submit a
short description of the poster (one page at the most), using the form
provided on line. The deadlines are the same as for oral presentations 
(see above).

Proceedings will be published after the conference; authors of accepted papers will be invited to send a full paper.

Conference languages are English and French.

This conference is organised in the framework of the European network Prometea, by the CDEFI (Conference of the Heads of French Engineering Schools) and ECEPIE (Equality of opportunities in engineering careers in Europe) with the support of the European Commission and French institutions.
